PERFORMANCE COSTUME
The Coronation of Poppea

During the third year of my degree, we were briefed on designing for the opera The Coronation of Poppea. The brief required that we reimagine this opera in a given historical context and to use red colour palette. My historical decade was the 1950's, and when contextualising this I due drew thematic similarities from relevant characters of the time. I chose the 1950's New York setting, with Emperor Nero being an infamous mob boss. For this historical make I decided to create Poppea's costume as seen in the above and below media
